How do you work out your offer?
We look at recent Auckland sale prices for the same model, the car's kilometres, condition, service history and specification, and how quickly cars like it sell. Your photos let us price it accurately before we see it, so the number doesn't change on the day unless the car is different to what was described.
How and when do I get paid?
By bank transfer on the day we collect the car, before we drive away. If there's finance owing, we pay the lender first and transfer the balance to you.
Can you buy my car if I still owe money on it?
Yes. We get the settlement figure from your lender and pay it out directly. If the loan is more than the car is worth, we'll show you the gap up front and you can pay the difference or walk away.
Who will I deal with when I sell my car?
Steve, our buyer. He has 40 years in the car industry and handles your sale personally, from your first message to the moment the money lands in your account, so you always know who to call.
Do I have to buy a car from you?
No. We'll buy your car whether or not you buy anything from us. If you are looking for your next car, our sister dealership GVI can help.
How long is my offer valid for?
Seven days from when we send it, as long as the car's condition and kilometres stay the same.
Do you buy damaged or non-running cars?
No. We focus on quality cars in good, drivable condition. Insurers and salvage yards are a better fit for crashed or non-running vehicles.
Is there a charge to collect my car?
No. Collection anywhere in the Auckland region is free. Outside Auckland, ask us first.
How much will you pay for my car?
Every car is priced on its own merits, so the quickest way to know is to send us the plate, kilometres and a few photos. We'll reply with a firm written offer based on current Auckland market prices for that model and specification.
What cars do you buy?
Good, drivable cars, SUVs, utes and vans from 2010 onwards, generally under 150,000 km and worth $8,000 or more. That includes hybrids, plug-in hybrids, EVs and prestige models. We don't buy crashed, written-off, non-running, or flood- or hail-damaged cars.
Do you buy electric cars and hybrids?
Yes. We buy EVs, including Teslas, along with hybrids and plug-in hybrids. Our parent company GVI services and sells EVs, so we know how to value battery health properly.
What do I need to sell my car in New Zealand?
Photo ID for each registered owner, all the keys, your bank account details, and your loan details if there's finance owing. Service records help the price. We lodge the change of ownership with Waka Kotahi NZTA for you.
Do you buy cars outside Auckland?
Our buyers cover the whole Auckland region, from Warkworth to Pukekohe, with free pickup. For the right car we'll talk about collecting from further away, so send it through and ask.
Are you open on weekends?
Yes. Our Penrose yard is open Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm, Saturday 9am to 3pm, and Sunday 10am to 3pm. You can send your car through online at any time.
Will I get more selling my car privately?
Sometimes, if you have the time. A private sale can reach a higher price, but it usually takes weeks and comes with listing costs, test drives and payment risk. We give you a firm price and pay on the day, with no fees.
Can you buy multiple vehicles from my business?
Yes. We buy fleets from lease companies, rental operators and businesses that are downsizing or upgrading. Send us your vehicle list and we'll price each vehicle individually.
